Sprinters World Championships 1895-1913

While the first world championship for amateur sprinters was held in Chicago in 1893, it took another two years before professional cyclists got their chance. The venue for the premiere in 1895 was the velodrome in Cologne.

At that time, three riders competed in the final, so the bronze medal was not decided in a “small final.”
